Introducing….Our City

We’re thrilled to announce we’ll be leading a brand new programme of creative community events, called Our City, in collaboration with other brilliant local arts organisations, following a contract award from Hull City Council.

Our City will include a spectacular community-led celebration next March, as part of a fantastic weekend in Hull alongside the superb Colliderfest event and the cultural conference Cultural Tides.

A huge celebration of local identity, Our City will be made with and for the people of Hull. From Saturday (25th Oct), we will be out and about with some of our favourite singers and artists, collecting responses to three prompts that will help shape the look and feel of the event next year – see details and list of dates/locations below.

Back to Ours’ CEO and artistic director Louise Yates said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be leading this new, inclusive programme, working with other brilliant local arts organisations. Our City is all about Hull and our local identity, and it will celebrate our location by the water, too – it’s the idea of waves of activity moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, connecting communities and building into a large-scale city centre event.

If you see us out and about as we kick off the first phase of the programme, from October 25th, please say hello and get involved!”

Tell us! What and where is important to you in our city?

In phase one of Our City’s community engagement, we’ll be out and about with HEY volunteers and some of our favourite performers, ready to chat about what and where in our city is important to you. We’ll be using these prompts:

‘Our City Our ……….’

‘The Tide in Hull will carry us home to………..’

‘The Tide’s Light shines on what I love the most, my/our..……….’

The responses we get will help to shape the story of the event next year.
