Introducing Haptic Tales – a brand-new community story massage programme from multi-award-winning theatre company Concrete Youth, in proud partnership with Back to Ours. Created for people labelled with profound and multiple learning disabilities, this pilot project delivers meaningful, sensory experiences in community halls across Hull. By bringing sessions into familiar, local spaces, Haptic Tales removes geographical and travel barriers to participation, whilst bringing creative, accessible experiences right to your doorstep.

Story massage blends sensory storytelling with positive touch, creating a calming, engaging, and fully inclusive activity that supports communication, connection, and wellbeing.

With soft mats and hoists provided, participants can enjoy floor time comfortably and accessibly, ensuring everyone can take part in a way that suits them best. Whether it’s the gentle rhythm of a story or the soft press of a wave, each session brings stories to life through positive touch – making Haptic Tales a joyful and enriching experience for participants, families, and carers alike.

Haptic Tales is produced by Concrete Youth and commissioned by Back to Ours.
